Mini-Ramp Owner of SLC...
SLC Mini-ramp owners, we need your help. If you own a mini ramp, and have a decent relationship with your neighbor, we would like to ask you to approach them. We could really use a full perspective on this situation for ammunition to over-turn this ordinance for good.
What has happened is that a very small group of neighbors in our city have complained about mini-ramps. This is just another case of "a small percentage" ruins it for every one else. I have been a great neighbor, and have been very low key. I mind my own business, and if anyone ever needs anything I'm here for them. For some reason I have a neighbor who believes they have the right to take my property rights away from me because they don't approve of my skate ramp. Keep in mind...I'm not skating this ramp 8 hours per day, or into the late hours of the night. I skate it about 3 days or so per week for about an hour in the afternoons. That's it. I feel strongly that this is completely within reason, and I have every right to participate in this activity within the privacy of my backyard of a home that I own.
This fight is not yet over. They have suspended the ordinance for the time being, but it is not yet completely over-turned. We need your help people. Thanks for taking the time to sign our petition, your voices have been heard. But it would be immensely helpful if any of you could collect any written statements of APPROVAL from your neighbors. We need some positive feedback from the neighbors of mini-ramps.
Other things that would be helpful: Positive statements from Mothers, Fathers, and even Grandparents regarding the use of a backyard mini-ramp.
In April of 2009 (next spring) this issue will resurface, and the SLVHD will hold a public hearing. This is going to be our chance to stake our claim on our property rights here in Utah. I will keep every posted when that time comes, and will reach back out to you for support. We need large numbers to attend this hearing, and we need positive, and civil ammunition to ensure our rights are not taken from us.
Feel free to email us at any time: slcminiramp@gmail.com and thanks for your help.
Keep skating.
